Healthy Snack Ideas

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone enjoyed reading last weeks post, I was super, super happy with it afterwards and so many of my friends came up to me and said how much they enjoyed reading it which made me very very happy because I want to write posts that you all enjoy reading!

So staying on the theme of last weeks post of healthy breakfast ideas I decided to a healthy snack ideas, I love the idea of a healthy post theme running through my blog as a little section for a while as I figured out as it is the start of the year (ish) people will want to get healthier or stay healthier so I am hoping this will help as many people as it possibly can!

I like to snack as it is an easy way to have food on the go but most of the time it is usually quite unhealthy foods so I am never being nice to myself filling up on crisps and biscuits, usually this would be chocolate too but I have given up chocolate for the new year until easter (or however long I feel like), I wanted to do this just to make myself healthier, my skin better and generally because I felt like it.  I do love chocolate and the first few days of giving it up was hard but now I am not really fussed about not eating it. If you feel like your skin is clogged up and getting pores lots I do recommend giving up chocolate as it made me feel much better so hopefully it will make you feel better too!

I am always trying to be healthier as I usually crack and end up going back to the meanies of the sugar world so healthier snack ideas are just perfect for me!
If you want to be healthier and want to find out all the important details of foods that you never know, I highly recommend purchasing 'Eat Pretty' by "Jolene Hart' as this covers everything you need to know about foods!  It is inexpensive for just £7.69 of amazon. It is just fabby dabby!

I must apologise now for the lack/no photos of the snacks as every photo I took of all the snacks turned out so so bad and I didn't want it to ruin the post so I opted for the no photo option! I am really sorry for this and next week will be back on track for photos! (Hopefully!)

Anyway here are my favourite healthy snack ideas...

1.  Banana and peanut layers
So this is a massive favourite of mine because I love both of the ingredients lots and lots! These are the easiest, quickest and tastiest snack ever! There are 2 slices of banana stuck together with peanut butter (you can swap the peanut butter with almond butter if you wish.) That is literally it, they are super super tasty and quick and easy to make.

To make:

Slice up half a banana and put a little bit of peanut butter on the sides of the banana that will be stuck together, then do just that, stick them together, EASY PEASY!

Pop them on a plate to serve and enjoy!

2.  My next snack idea is strawberries in homemade natural yoghurt. Yes, homemade yoghurt, don't be put off by this.  It's easy, make your yoghurt the day before you plan on eating this snack, this way the yogurt will be ready for eating!  All you need is an 'Easiyo' Yoghurt maker.

How to make your yoghurt with an Easiyo maker...

Step 1.
Heat 1 litre of milk, almost (but not quite) to boiling - look for the point when it is just slightly frothing top but not yet foaming up.
Step 2.
Coll the milk in the fridge until is completely cold.
Step 3.
When the milk is completely cold, pour half of it into an Easiyo 1 litre container and add 1/2 a cup of milk powder. (This is not essential but makes for a thicker yoghurt.) Put the lid on tightly and shake until mixed.
Step 4.
Take about half a cup of the milk and mix it with 2-3 tbsp of yoghurt, until they are well blended.  Make sure the yoghurt is not too cold.
Step 5.
Add this mix to the rest of the milk to the yoghurt container and shake some more to mix throughly.
Step 6.
Fill the Easiyo with boiling water, up to the top the red baffle.
Step 7.
Put the container of milk into the Easiyo and leave for about 10 hours - this is why you need to make the yoghurt the day before you intend to eat it.
Step 8.
Take it out and put in the fridge to finish setting.

There are other ways of making this that I have used before but I can't find the recipe online.  If you don't have an easiyo or don't want to make your own yoghurt feel free to use natural yoghurt that you can get very easily and cheaply in the supermarket.

Cut up your strawberries and big or as small as you would like them, pop them into a small bowl and dollop the yoghurt on top.
Voila!
Enjoy!

3.  Fruit Salad

I use...
Strawberries,
Banana,
Pineapple,
Apple,
Orange segments,
Peach (canned slices),
Blueberries
And
Apple Juice.

Obviously feel free to swap around the fruits to your preference but these are just the fruits I enjoy and wanted to have in my fruit salad.

All you need to do is chop up all the fruits into chunks and place in a bowl, pour the apple juice into the bowl with the fruits until the fruits are covered with it, this way, it will stop them going brown.  Serve into a bowl and enjoy!

I think this is the perfect healthy snack or even dessert because everyone loves a good fruit salad for dessert! If you are having your family around and haven't prepared a dessert this is perfect because it is quick and easy to do!

4.  Okay so my next snack is actually one of my breakfast recipes 'Breakfast in a glass' but now its called 'Snack in a glass'.

It is exactly the same recipe as the 'Breakfast in a glass'

If you want to know how to make this and what ingredients are used, go over to my last post and give it a good ol' read, sure enough you will find the recipe for this delicious creation which I love and enjoy lots!

5.  Pitta bites and Houmous

This is my all time favourite snack ever! Warmed pitta bread and houmous.
I prefer white pitta to brown but if you want by all means, have brown pitta!  All I do is warm the pitta in the toaster. While that is warming, I grap a ramekin and put some spoonfuls of humous into it.  Once my pitta is warmed to my liking, I will take it out of the toaster and cut it into slices and pop it on my plate.  I place my plate and ramekin onto the table and sit down to enjoy!  I am absolutely in LOVE with this snack, it is my most favourite snack ever and I never get fed up of eating it!

Thank you so much for reading this blog post today, I really hope you enjoyed it! Please feel free to leave a comment below saying what blog post you would like to read next from me as I want to make you all happy by writing blog posts that you want!
